DEAR COPENHAGEN SUBORBITALS GUESTS, We'll get right to it: We need your help to run Copenhagen Suborbitals. This is a 100% non-profit project driven by sheer joy and hard work. We survive on donations averaging about $10, that we use to pay for raw materials, tools, our workshop, electricity and most importantly, rocket fuel. The entire CS team are unpaid volunteers, building rockets in our spare time. If this project brings you joy, please donate to keep it running. Thank you.

Dear readers,

As you could read in our last blog, PH Spaanteknik has helped us to produce a number of prototype coaxial swirlers. We have now received them and I just think you should see how nice they look.

Illustration: Thomas Pedersen

They look really nice and the tolerances are much better than what we ourselves could do in our own workshop. Tomorrow we will start brazing the first elements together. As soon as the first elements are brazed together, we will perform a flow test with water. It is absolutely essential to know the characteristics with regard to flow of water as a function of inlet pressure. For that, we re-use part of the setup, which we previously used for water flow test of the BPM-5 injectors. However, it must be modified a bit so that these smaller injectors fit.

If you want to know a little more about how these coax swirlers work or just want to look at them a little more, then I have created a small video that describe the basics. It can be seen below:

In case you are not informed about this product, it might be useful for brazing the swirlers: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HdkID_Fl84A

You can also use a furnace for making many brazings at once: https://youtu.be/jfvDhJAbOkU?t=33
