This is the device that ensures a correctly timed opening of the parachutes. It is first activated when the parachute unfolds, and the suspension line pulls a plug in the bottom. after that, when the reefing line has tightened, it will wait a predetermined time before it cuts the reefing line. This video shows how the timer is activated by the pull of a suspension line.
